Freshman GOP Senator Bernie Moreno walked the halls of Congress and took multiple questions in the same time period.
Moreno was first elected to the Senate in the 2024 election cycle, defeating Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown, while being on the same ballot as President Trump, who won Ohio by 11 points.
Moreno has served in the Senate since January 2025 and will be up for reelection in 2030.
The Gateway Pundit and several reporters caught up to Moreno as he walked through the basement of the Russell Senate Building; he was then asked questions on various topics.

Moreno starts by talking negatively about what he calls “Dumb, lazy politicians” on Capitol Hill.
“Can’t be hopeful because there’s dumb, lazy politicians here. Because when they can’t solve a problem, they find a bill,” Moreno told TGP.
Moreno continued the conversation by shifting to data centers and continued with his opposition to them:
“I don’t blame communities for being against data centers because they’re gonna suck up all your electricity, raising your electricity costs, take your taxpayer dollars, pollute your rivers, and then screw you over in the community for a benefit. Why would you want that?”
For the record, Patrick Witt, who is President Trump’s crypto advisor, is set to leave the White House this month. Witt will be on military leave.
Moreno is confident that before Witt leaves the White House, the Senate will pass the Digital Market Clarity Act, which is currently stalling in the Senate. The act would settle a longtime conflict between two regulators and give the Commodity Futures Trading Commission authority over most crypto trading.
“I think 95% is resolved. I think the RCA is landing a spot. With ethics, you gotta get the Democrats to take yes for an answer. It’s very hard sometimes,” Moreno told TGP.
Moreno took the opportunity to blast Senate Democrats on an idea they had for the bill:
“And some of the ideas they had were just kinda frankly dumb, like having State Attorneys General be able to sue the Department of Justice. One of the things we asked, ‘why don’t you think through that a little bit more and see what would happen if there’s a Democrat federal official that you want a red state Attorney General to go after you to make a name for themselves?’ Is that really good public policy? So it’s kinda dumb.”
Moreno shifts the conversation back to crypto and tells the Gateway Pundit that he doesn’t believe this issue should not be partisan:
“If you think about crypto and providing regulations for digital assets, why is there a Democrat view versus a Republican view? I think a lot it comes from just a total lack of understanding, of knowledge of how this works.”
Moreno ended the conversation by talking about the ongoing conflict in Iran.
The Gateway Pundit’s Alicia Powe then asked Moreno if he believes the conflict will be resolved soon. Moreno expressed confidence in President Trump’s handling of the war and reminds everyone that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons.
Fourty-Seven years. It’s not gonna be resolved easily. But the Iranians have made a major miscalculation in that they forget they are dealing with President Trump. They still think they’re dealing with dopes like Obama and Biden. That’s the difference, and they’re finding out. So look, at the end of the day, they will never have a nuclear weapon. Either they are gonna act like a normal nation, or they are gonna continue to get pummeled,” Moreno told the Gateway Pundit.
After walking down the hallways of the Russell basement for almost 5 minutes, answering questions on multiple topics, Moreno got onto the elevator and parted ways with The Gateway Pundit and the other reporters who were present.
